Occasionally, I run into a calculation that cannot be made to work in Calcs but that works just fine in reality. I just made a post about a flitch beam shear capacity issue for example, but have also run into this in the past with one of the footing design modules that requires a steel development length check when not an actual fabrication option, or with the tied roof module and a deflection check that may or not have been corrected by now.
I therefore propose an option to hide the “FAIL” output and to perhaps even do something about the percentages in the output, or at least those over 100%. Provide an option (with appropriate discaimers of course to protect Calcs.com) where these indicators can be hidden from view in the printed calc.
For the professional engineers using this platform, we rely on our professional judgment every day. It would be beneficial if Calcs accommodated that and allowed the ability to override the forced conclusion by Calcs. It can be embarrassing to submit a calc to a building inspector or architect or homeowner (any example will do) that has the word FAIL at the top when the member is fine. A written explanation doesn’t always cut it with the overzealous inspectors and editing the calc with a pdf editor can take extra time and is only a temporary workaround.
