We’ve released an updated Masonry Shear Wall (LRFD) calculator aligned with TMS 402/602-22, designed to make reinforced masonry wall design faster, clearer, and fully code-compliant.
This calculator performs complete axial–flexural interaction analysis with slenderness effects included, generating moment–axial interaction diagrams (Nominal and Design views) and clearly reporting governing utilization ratios.
It evaluates factored axial, moment, and in-plane shear demands, calculates design capacities (ϕPn, ϕMn, ϕVn), and incorporates both masonry and reinforcement contributions.
Supports uniformly distributed vertical reinforcement, optional horizontal reinforcement (bond beams), fully or partially grouted walls, CMU size and density selection, multi-story loading, and optional self-weight inclusion.
Seismic inputs such as SDS and Seismic Design Category are integrated directly into detailing and spacing checks, with automatic wall designation logic (Ordinary, Intermediate, or Special) based on code requirements.
By consolidating axial, flexural, shear, and seismic checks into a single streamlined workflow, this release reduces manual interaction diagram work, minimizes design iteration time, and improves transparency and confidence in masonry shear wall design.
