Wood Roof Tie - Collar and Rafter Tie gives "No Bearing"

I would like to design a residential roof with the ceiling ties elevated above the bearing points (semi-cathedral) and then carry those loads down through the rest of the structure. The calculation module is showing “No Bearing” even as soon as the module loads up. Is there any way to make this module work?

Hi Tom,

I actually looked into this more- at the moment we have this listed as an assumption that there is no bearing load at point loads. The reaction at the tie support is equal to the tension in the tie, and the reaction at the bottom-most wall support is used in bearing calculations for this governing load. We have yet to add this as a feature since we haven’t heard too many requests for this up till now. I’ll add it as a feature request though and keep you posted if/when we make any updates

Be sure to SCRUTINIZE any results you get from this module to make sure it is working in a way that makes sense for you. I’ve raised a few concerns in the past and have decided to avoid it altogether. You can search here on blueprint for at least some of that discussion.
